This multi-use area is managed for the protection, enhancement, and restoration of the blackland prairie habitat found there. Conservation education is also a major purpose of this area. Additionally, the area is managed for quality hunting and recreational opportunities. All 7 WMA offer other recreational activities such as fishing and hunting at Dr. Lester Sitzes III Bois D’Arc.
The 1874 Courthouse serves as the park visitor center for Historic Washington State Park. Start there, and continue to the Blacksmith Shop, Weapons Museum, Print Museum, and other historic locations that make up the largest collection of 19th-century buildings in the state.
